I am a writer on wellness and spirituality, a motivational speaker, and a holistic lifestyle consultant. In addition to my blog MaggieLyonLight.com, I am a featured contributor on Positively Positive, Owning Pink, ExperienceLife.com, and DrFrankLipman.com. I have also been a frequent contributor to The Huffington Post, Feminist.com, and Donna Karan’s Urban Zen Foundation website. In addition, I have been featured in Vital Juice NY, Black Ink, and Japanese Jane, and have written for Yoga Journal and TheBeautyBean.com.
Holistic living, personal growth, and wellness have been deep in my bones since my teen years growing up in Northern California. At age 16, I began dedicated practices in both Zen Buddhism and Iyengar Yoga, both of which continue to serve as the pillars of my spiritual development and to profoundly inform all that I offer to the world.
In 1999, I moved to New York City where I worked in the fashion and publishing industries. In 2002, I earned my Masters degree in Education from Teachers College, Columbia. I taught English and writing until the birth of my son Gavin in late 2004, and went on to write a novel.
Suddenly, in December 2006, I became severely ill with a case of amoebic dysentery, and ensuing endocrine, immune, and nervous system damage. My body broke down, and life as I knew it evaporated. Shell-shocked, I dove headlong into spiritual practice, explored a myriad of healing modalities, and organized an incredible team of alternative practitioners.
Over the course of three years, I rebuilt my body, healed my trauma, and regained my life, all of which intensely expanded my spiritual wisdom. Hence, since 2009, I have been devoted to guiding others on their individual quests for transformation and profound self-care.
To this day, along my continually evolving journey, it grows clearer and clearer that my path is one of genuine service. I unequivocally believe in supporting my clients and readers alike in learning to live in alignment with their essential selves and thereby rediscovering the incredible sweetness of life.
In addition to my remarkable personal experiences and ongoing studies in Zen, yoga, holistic nutrition, natural health, energy medicine, and LIFE, I am certified in Intuitive and Natural Wellness.
I live in New York City with my terrific husband, two divine children, and a third one on the way!
In abundant sweetness,
Maggie
